Dear readers, Stockholm celebrated a strong cruise season bolstered by its new shore power system, while the Transpacific Green Shipping Corridor confirmed 100% shore power capability in LA, Long Beach, and Shanghai. On the vessel side, Incat Tasmania is fitting out the world's largest electric ferry with a 40 MWh battery, and operators from HADAG in Hamburg to Molslinjen in Denmark are commissioning new all-electric ferries. Technological innovation is accelerating, with companies like Navier and Vessev advancing hydrofoil designs, and Yinson launching its next-generation electric cargo vessel.   • Stockholm's shore power cruise season: Ports of Stockholm concludes a strong cruise season with 137 calls. The season was supported by Sweden's second cruise ship shore power system. The new OPS infrastructure reduces emissions and noise in the city. Stockholm now receives cruise calls year-round, strengthening its position. READ MORE

  • San Diego's legacy of maritime firsts: The Port of San Diego highlights its history of clean technology firsts. This includes North America's first all-electric tug and mobile harbor cranes. It was also among the first US ports to install cruise ship shore power. The port is now developing San Diego County's first public ZE truck charging facility. READ MORE

  • Transpacific corridor hits phase one: The LA-Long Beach-Shanghai Green Shipping Corridor completes phase one. Shore power infrastructure now reaches 100% capability at all three ports. The first green methanol container ship has completed its voyage on the route. The partnership has established four working groups to advance decarbonization. READ MORE

  • Malaga launches shore power substation: The Port of Malaga launches a tender for a $13 million electrical substation. The project will enable shore power for all ship types by the year 2028.   • Nassau cruise port power bond raise: Island Power Producers seeks $100m in bonds for Nassau shore power. The 60 MW LNG-fueled plant will provide electricity to docked cruise ships.   • China launches largest electric bulker: China launches the Gezhouba, its largest all-electric bulk carrier. The 130-meter vessel has a 24,000 kWh battery and a 500 km range. It allows for rapid battery swapping and features remote navigation. The ship is expected to save 617 tonnes of fuel and cut 2,052 tonnes of CO2 annually. READ MORE

  • HADAG orders three electric ferries: Hamburg's HADAG orders three all-electric harbor ferries from SET Schiffbau. Each 30-meter vessel will carry 250 passengers for up to 12 hours.   • ASENAV floats out hybrid cruise ship: Chile's ASENAV floats out the hybrid-electric Magellan Discoverer. It is the first hybrid-electric expedition cruise ship built in the Americas.   • Vessev launches actively cooled marine motor: Vessev launches the VS-Drive, a submersible electric marine propulsion system. It features an internal closed-loop cooling system to prevent overheating. The motor delivers 65 kW of continuous power and peaks at 110 kW.   • Milestone for world's largest electric ferry: Incat Tasmania reaches a milestone for the world's largest electric ferry. One of the vessel's four massive battery rooms is now receiving charge.   • HX Expeditions launches electric zodiacs: HX Expeditions introduces two fully electric 'silent science boats.' The MK 5 vessels use RAD Propulsion drives to minimize noise pollution.   • ABB to power scottish electric ferries: ABB wins a contract to power seven all-electric ferries for CMAL. The order includes the Compact Onboard DC Grid™ and shore connection technology.   • Wärtsilä to propel Danish electric ferries: Wärtsilä to supply electric propulsion for two Incat-built Danish ferries. The system includes DC power conversion, waterjets, and energy management.
